WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Your hips, buttocks, abdomen, and thighs can shave cellulite. These lumpy, dimpled fleshes are harmless for skin. Most of the cases it is more visible in the body of women than in men. These occur as the fat cells lying under the skin, push up against the skin. This leads to distorting the connective tissues beneath the skin.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CELLULITE?

  • Cellulite looks dimpled or bumpy on skin.
  • if you pinch your thighs or buttocks or lower abdomen mild cellulite can see there.
  • In the case of severe cellulite, the skin will appear rumpled and bumpy.
  • Cellulite can moistly seem on thighs, buttocks, breasts, lower abdomen and upper arms.

HOW SEVERE ARE YOUR CELLULITE?

Well to understand that you need to go through the grade scale.

On the basis of cellulite severity, a scale was published in 2009. The grading scale is categorized into three scales.

cellulite leg & cellulite thigh Grade 1

Mild: Between 1 and 4 superficial depressions.

Appearance – Sagging appearance to the skin. It is basically an orange-peel appearance.

Grade 2

Moderate: Between 5 and 9 medium-depth depression.

Grade 3

Severe: 10 or more deep depression.

WHY CELLULITE MORE AFFECT WOMEN THAN MEN?

Cellulite occurs due to interaction between connective tissue which lies between the surface of the skin and layer of fat.

  • Women – Women’s fat cells and connective tissues are vertically arranged.
  • Men – Men’s fat cells and connective tissues are arranged in criss-cross structure.

So cellulite appears when the fat cells poke into the skin layer. Hence men are less likely to develop cellulite than women.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES FOR CELLULITE TO OCCUR?

The exact reason for cellulite to occur cannot understand. But cellulite can occur due to reasons such as:

Hormonal factors

Estrogen, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, prolactin, and insulin are directly or indirectly related to the formation of cellulite production. The flow of blood to the connected tissues under the skin decreases due to decreasing of estrogen before menopause.

The production of collagen decreases due to decreasing oxygen levels in the blood. The falling of the estrogen level leads to the enlarging of fat cells. After the deposition of fat increases in the area, the fat pokes out the connective tissues resulting in the formation of cellulite.

Age

Age causes increasing the elasticity of the skin. This leads to sagging of skin and increases the chances of forming cellulite.

Lifestyle and diet

Cellulite can occur to both slim and fat people. It generally forms after the age of 20 to 25. But it can see in teenagers also as well. The following can also lead to the formation of cellulite:

    • Consumption of excessive fat
    • Consumption of excessive carbohydrates and salt
    • Smoking
    • Lack of exercise
    • Standing or sitting in a particular position for a long period of time
    • Wearing underwear that has tight elastics around the buttocks.

Genes

Genetic factors can increase metabolism, fat distribution and circulation level of blood. This can also lead to the formation of cellulite.

HOW TO TREAT CELLULITE?

Luckily there are several ways by which your cellulite can vanish and you can rock in your favorite pair of shorts.

cellulite treatment

Laser treatment

The appearance of the lumpy flesh may improve for a year or more than that.  This treatment inserts a small laser probe under your skin. The tissue breaks up by the laser. This leads to an increase in collagen production and hence thickens the skin. This reduces the appearance of the cellulite.

Acoustic wave therapy

Several sessions of acoustic wave therapy can remove your cellulite. This process transmits sound through a device.

 Vacuum-assisted precise tissue release

In this process, small blades are used to cut the bands. Due to this, the space under the skin is filled up with the tissue lying underneath as it moves up. This results in removing cellulite. This may last for 3 years.

Endermologie

In this treatment, a vacuum-like device performs a deep massage to lift the skin.

Subcision

This process is performed by putting a needle under the skin. The needle breaks up the connective tissue bands. This lasts for 2 years or more.

Carboxytherapy

After inserting carbon dioxide under the skin, the cellulite disappears. This may cause discomfort and bruise.

Ionithermie cellulite reduction treatment

In this process, an electric current is applied after covering the area with mud and wrapping by plastic.

Radiotherapy

This process provides heat to reduce the cellulite though results do not last for a long period of time.

Laser-assisted liposuction

This process removes a small amount of fat but, this does not remove the cellulite completely.

Ultrasonic liposculpting

Liposculpting destroys fat to get rid of cellulite.

Other than these medicines and creams such as Retinol and caffeine creams can also be used to help you get rid of cellulite.
